How do I create a complete control system in our spaces with other devices like lighting, shades, door locks, and can I integrate these rooms into my BAS / BMS system?
As a Systems Integrator, this is our specialty. We work with multiple manufacturers and platforms to create a single source solution tailored to your exact specifications. This is quite simply our number one strength.
Will Residents / Guests continue to have control of HVAC if the Network is down?
Yes. The room controls are completely independent of network connectivity.
Is your network secure?
ZigBee and WiFi share the same 2.4 GHz band. However, ZigBee will not interfere with WiFi connections. ZigBee channels can squeeze in between the large WiFi channels without interference. We use channels 15, 20, 25 and 26.
ZigBee products have been designed to resist RF interference, the standard has 16 channels in the global 2.4 GHz frequency band, giving it plenty of room to inter-operate successfully with other systems operating in the same range.
We will work closely with your IT department to configure the server’s communication in a highly secure manner.
What kinds of HVAC systems can you control?
Our thermostats can control most PTAC, Fan Coil, Split system, Water Source Heat Pumps, and VRF units.
Do I need a door contact?
In most cases, no. However, in a scenario where Patio or Lanai doors are in a space, door contacts are recommended to detect when open to allow fresh air and shut down Cooling until the door contact is closed. They can also be used on windows for this same reason. Some customers have also used the door contact application for security purposes to trigger alerts when doors or windows have been left open for an extended period of time.
How will my team learn the software platform?
After your system is installed, we will conduct a personalized training session with your group, typically via webinar or onsite at project closeout. Adoption is key maximizing the full value of the system. Do not fear, we are here to support you long after the installation is complete. With Smartcare, you can rest assured we will be there to support you.
Do you have a support line?
Yes, our experienced Smartcare support team is available for all customers under a Smartcare support contract. Even if you have purchased your system from another vendor, give us a call we are happy to help point you in the right direction of if desired, develop a plan to help you on site or remotely.
What if my budget only allows for a simple or basic system?
That’s ok. We will help you understand the Return On Investment or ROI with an honest calculation. If budget constraints only allow a non-networked system, that is ok. We offer scalable solutions that are easy to expand over time.
Can you integrate with Door Locks?
Our system offerings interface with common door lock manufacturers like Assa Abloy, Saflok and Salto. These door locks can be easily integrated into the room system and onto the network. One awesome benefit is the ability to invest in one single network vs. two networks. Ask us to explain how this works.
Does your system work with my mobile phone?
Yes. Mobile apps are available for Android and IOS phones.
Can you control humidity?
Yes. There are a couple different ways to address this. One is by controlling the HVAC systems refresh cycle (if equipped) and the other is to utilize a specific firmware and setting combination to drive an overshoot of cooling temperature. The bottom line is this, if mold and air quality is a problem, we can fix it.
Do you provide low voltage and high voltage thermostats?
Though the vast majority of new HVAC systems today will fall into the 24V category for controls, not all projects are new build or renovation. You need to control what you have in place today. We have the answer. We offer control systems capable of handling 12V to 277V out of the box meaning, no need to invest in additional hardware to step down the voltage.
What is the range of a thermostat’s occupancy sensor?
Most of our thermostats have on board occupancy sensors utilizing a Passive Infrared technology.
0-9ft Extreme Sensitivity Zone
9-18ft Medium Zone
18-25ft Larger Motion Zone
In spaces larger than this, we recommend an additional occupancy sensor to complement the thermostat or door lock integration to add a door event sequence to the space. Ask us for more details.
Are there any rebates available for my property?
There is a very good chance you are eligible for rebates. We will not only give you good guidance on rebates, we will help you apply and secure them. If you are interested in what may be available in your area, visit: http://www.dsireusa.org or visit your local utility website and search for commercial energy rebate details.
